Security

Security and privacy

  1. Scanned imports

    Imported and uploaded files are scanned for malware before they are saved to Khazna, and files containing macros or malformed packages are refused.

  2. Everything runs locally

    Spelling, fonts and equation rendering run without calling third parties.

  3. Hardened imports

    Imported files are protected against zip bombs, XXE and macros, and the importers are fuzz-tested.

  4. Approved scripts only

    Document scripts run in a sandbox and need each user’s approval before they do anything.

  5. Khazna permissions apply

    Who can view, comment or edit is decided in Khazna, and checked on every request.

Questions and answers

Will my documents open in other word processors?

Yes. Qalam saves real Office documents, and comments are kept as standard Office comments.

Are digital signatures legally qualified?

Signatures use your personal Woosool signing key. They are not certificate-based signatures from a certificate authority.

Is my text sent out for spell checking?

No. Spelling and grammar checks run in your browser.

Does Arabic export correctly to PDF?

Yes. PDFs are vector files with correctly shaped Arabic text.
