Woosool Barid · Mail

Email on its own server, with a calm inbox and nothing watching.

Woosool Barid runs on our own mail server, from delivery to your inbox. Messages are sorted into clear categories, remote images stay blocked until you allow them, and you can encrypt messages end to end. Use it on the web, on Android, or in the mail app you already use on your phone or computer.

Overview

What you can do

  • 01

    End-to-end encryption

Send end-to-end encrypted email that works with other secure email apps, in the browser and in the Woosool Barid app (certificate-based encryption is web only for now). It turns on automatically when every recipient has a key.

  • 02

    Inbox categories

Primary, Updates, Promotions, Social and Forums keep the inbox readable. Add your own rules to fine-tune them.

  • 03

    Remote images blocked

Senders can’t tell when you open their message. Load images only for people you mark as safe.

  • 04

    Schedule, undo, snooze

Send later, take back a message you just sent, and snooze mail until the moment you need it.

  • 05

    Smart compose on your device

Writing suggestions are off until you turn them on, and they run entirely on your device. No text goes to an AI service.

  • 06

    Filters and vacation replies

Sort mail automatically with filter rules, block senders, forward mail and set an out-of-office reply.

  • 07

    Aliases and identities

Send from several addresses, each with its own signature. Save templates for the replies you write often.

  • 08

    Spoofing warnings

Every incoming message is checked to confirm it really comes from the sender’s domain. If a sender looks forged, you see a warning on the message.

  • 09

    Your own domain

Use your own domain, with every outgoing message signed so others can trust it. A built-in checker shows exactly which records to publish for your domain and confirms when everything is set up, and secure delivery for your domain is configured for you.

  • 10

    Works with your apps

Connect the mail app on your phone or computer with an app password. New mail shows up right away.

Security

Security and privacy

  1. Encrypted on your device

Messages and attachments are encrypted on your device before they are sent; only your recipients’ keys can decrypt them. Woosool’s servers store and deliver encrypted text they cannot read.

  2. Your key, your passphrase

Your private key is protected by a passphrase only you know. The optional key backup is encrypted with that passphrase, strengthened so it is slow and costly to guess; Woosool never sees it and cannot reset it.

  3. What stays visible

Even with encryption, the sender, recipients, date and size of a message remain visible to mail servers. The subject is hidden by default.

  4. Keys found for you

Encryption is automatic when every recipient has a key. Woosool publishes your public key so others can find it, looks up recipients’ keys for you, and works with other secure email apps.

  5. Password-protected messages

For people without encryption, you can send a password-protected message they open in their browser; it expires after up to 30 days. They can reply encrypted from the same page, attachments included.

  6. Encrypted mail with Bcc, and certificate checks

Encrypted mail works with Bcc: each Bcc recipient gets a separate encrypted copy, so no one can tell who else received it. Certificates are checked to make sure they have not been withdrawn.

  7. Keys on contact cards

Save someone’s encryption key on their Woosool Nass card, and Barid uses it to encrypt your messages to them.

  8. The trade-offs

Encrypted messages can’t be searched by their content and can’t be scanned for spam or viruses.

  9. In transit and at rest

Your mail is delivered securely to providers that support it, and always to those that require it. Stored messages and attachments are encrypted at rest, and the mail server refuses to start without its key.

  10. Secure delivery

Barid checks it is talking to the right server before handing over your mail. When a recipient’s provider requires secure delivery, mail is never sent unencrypted: if the server can’t be verified, delivery waits and retries. Push notifications to your devices are encrypted.

  11. Delivery reports

Daily reports on secure delivery and sender checks are sent to domains that request them, and the reports other providers send about your own domains appear in the admin console.

  12. Spam and malware filtering

Incoming mail goes through spam filtering, and every message and attachment is scanned for malware. If the scanner is down, mail waits instead of slipping through.

  13. Safely displayed messages

Formatted messages are shown in an isolated frame, so their content can’t reach the rest of the app.

  14. App passwords for mail apps

Mail, calendar and contacts apps on your phone or computer always sign in with an app password; your account password is never accepted there. Each app password can be revoked on its own.

  15. Login lockout

Repeated wrong passwords lock sign-in for a while, per address and per account, with one count shared by every app that signs in to your account. Guessing from many addresses at once doesn’t get far.

Questions and answers

Is Woosool Barid end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Woosool Barid supports end-to-end encrypted email that works with other secure email apps, with personal keys or with certificates issued to your organisation. Both work in the browser; the Android app supports personal keys, and certificates are web only for now. Messages and attachments are encrypted on your device before they are sent, and Woosool’s servers cannot read them. The sender, recipients, date and size stay visible to mail servers; the subject is hidden by default.

Can I use the desktop or phone mail app I already have?

Yes. Create an app password in Barid settings, then add your account to your mail app with your full address as the username.

Does smart compose send my emails anywhere?

No. It is off by default and, once on, it runs entirely on your device.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, on Android, with end-to-end encryption, push notifications and an encrypted offline cache. iOS is coming.

Can I bring my own domain?

Yes. Verify it in your account, add the records shown to your domain, and outgoing mail is signed automatically. A built-in checker shows exactly what to publish and confirms when everything is set up, and secure delivery for your domain is configured for you.
